ELEVA — Esther Louisa Arneson, 94, of Eleva, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 27, 2003, at the Strum Nursing Home in Strum.

Esther was born February 13, 1909, in Modena to Chester and Rosemary (Harschlip) Butler. She married Palmer Arneson on October 27, 1931, at Lake Street Methodist Church in Eau Claire. He died December 14, 1982.

Esther was a cook at Jimmy Woo’s, Whitehouse Inn and at the Eau Claire County farm. She was an excellent mother and homemaker. Her doors were always open to share the family’s meal.

Survivors include five children, LaVonne (Donald) Johnson of Eleva, Verlynn (Loretta) Arneson of Eau Claire, Audrey Fimreite of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Sonya (Bob) Elder of Pellston, Mich., and Arvid (Bonnie) Arneson of Black River Falls; 31 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, LeRoy, Orrin, Rex and Malcolm Butler; two sisters, Dorothy Smithyman and Vivian Batchelder; son-in-law, Henry Fimreite; grandson, Scott Birch and a great-grandson, Matthew Lamp.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Eleva-Strum Church of the Nazarene, rural Strum, with Revs. Elmer Pannier and Bob Elder officiating. Burial will be in the Eleva Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Eleva, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
