Orathy Fay Anderson, 72, of 3578 W. Riley Rd., Gladwin, died Monday, Aug. 10, following a short illness. Born in Coalgate, Okla., on August 12, 1909, she moved to Tulsa where she worked for retail merchants and to Gladwin County in 1934. Mrs. Anderson was Sunday School superintendent for many years at the Gladwin United Methodist Church, past chairman of the Cancer Society, a 4-H leader for 15 years and a member of the Gladwin Area Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Golden Agers Senior Citizens Club. The former Orathy Butler, she was married to Gustave Anderson September 8, 1934, in Mercer, Pa. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1975.
Surviving are 2 sons, Donald and Lowell of Gladwin; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Marlene) Otto of Gladwin; 3 brothers, William of Gladwin, Roy of California and Stanley of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Gladwin United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Bates will officiate and burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery.
