Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burton was born in Mineola and lived in Fort Worth for most of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Paschal High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Texas Christian University in 1955.
Mrs. Burton was with the Fort Worth school district for 28 years. She was head of the science department at Eastern Hills High School, where she taught for 22 years.
She retired at the end of the Spring semester.
Mrs. Burton was a life member of the Educators' Association of Fort Worth and 1992 recipient of the association's Presidents' Award. She was a life member of the National Educators' Association, a member of Texas State Teachers' Association, and was a Tandy Scholar.
Mrs. Burton was a member of University United Methodist Church.
Survivors: Husband, Robert L. Burton of Fort Worth; daughter, Marci Lou Burton of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; son, Robert marion Burton of Apopka, Fla.; mother, Mamie Whitsel of Edgecliff Village; and sister, Carolyn King of Aledo
