Arthur George Butcher Jr. was born July 9, 1948 in White Earth, to Arthur and Susan (Ahbedaush) Butcher Sr. He was raised and educated in Ponsford and is a 1966 graduate of Park Rapids High School. He attended Haskell Institute for a year and then the University of Minnesota for a year.
Arthur then taught at the Little Red School House in the Twin Cities, at South High in Minneapolis and at the Pine Point School in Ponsford. He later worked for the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen and as a security guard at the White Earth Clinic.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, flute carving, riceing, bike riding, wood working and hitch hiking to powwow's in the five state area.
Survivors include his mother, Susan Butcher of Mahnomen; two brothers, LaVerne Butcher of Minneapolis and Thomas (Lisa Thompson) Butcher of Frazee; sister, Eileen Butcher of Frazee; a half-sister, Rose of Minneapolis; stepchildren, Jonah Perrigo of Pennsylvania, Arthur Stallman of Bovey and Sarah Adams of Ogema.
He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Eldred and Walter; sisters, Edith and Esther.
Funeral service: Private family service.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery, White Earth.
