Rev. Alfred Delmar Busby, 84, son of Alfred and Rebecca Connley Busby, departed from this life in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo.

His greatest pleasure in life was taking care of the "love of his life", Jo VanHooser Busby. They were united in marriage April 29, 1932.

A Fundemental Baptist Minister for 62 years, he was the pastor of area churches. Until his death he was faithful to visit hospitals and homes and care for family and friends. He lived for his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Alfred Joe Busby; a brother, Tony Justice; four sisters, Naoma Watkins, Helen Bebout, Delphia Geller, and Wilma Mingus; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Josphine "Jo" of the home; a daughter, Karen Stewart and her husband, Gene, Nixa, Mo.; a son, Bill Busby and his wife, Clara, Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Leona Sloane, Springfield, Mo., and Stella Hagelin, state of California; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, in the Walnut Lawn DeGraffenreid-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St., with the Revs. Bill McTeer, Stevie Maples, and W. E. Dowell officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
