Mrs. Jim Burton Dies
The funeral of Mrs. James M. Burton, who died Thursday, November 24, 1929 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. F. Wright in Kansas City, was held Sunday afternoon, November 24, 1929 at 2 o'clock in the Patton Funeral Parlor at Huntsville, Mo. in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends.
Rev. C. O. Randsford, pastor of the Fort Henry Church and also of the Clifton Hill M. E. Church, and Rev. H. W. Eisenberg, pastor of the Huntsville M. E. Church conducted the services.
Rev. Eisenberg read scripture verses from the 90th Psalm: "The days of our years are threescore and ten and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years and then if there strength, labor and sorrow, for it is soon cut off and we fly away."
Rev. Ransford spoke of the life of a person who had lived four score years and ten.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Wilhite, P. O. Gunn and Mrs. Guy Morfitt accompanied by Mrs. Lula Sandison on the piano, sand favorite songs of the deceased. The flower bearers were Mrs. Russel Miles, Mrs. Ruby Ficklin, Mrs. Allie Dawson, Mrs. Dorothy Wright, Mrs. Helen Gates, and Miss Edith Evans. The pall bearers were H. L. Rutherford, Mike Boland, Warren Cockrell, Mylo Darr, Bird Burton and C. C. Barron.
Burial was made in the city cemetery.

Mrs. James M. Burton passed away Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. F. Wright in Kansas City.
Ann Eliza Duncan Cockrill was born in Huntsville, Mo. January 29, 1840 and passed away at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 19 days.
She was a resident of Missouri all of her life except the last few years and she spent much of her time with her daughters in Kansas City. She was married at the age of 16 to James M. Burton, also a native resident of Missouri to this union were born 10 children, 6 of whom survive: Thomas Burton of Huntsville, Mo. Ella Maloney of Kansas City, Kansas, Ollie Griffith of Pittsburg, Pa., John Burton of Hamon, Okla., Annie Wright of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mary Westlake of Huntsville, Mo., 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and many relatives.
Mrs. Burton was a woman of unusual strength and character. She united with the Sweet Springs Methodist Church in her youth and remained a consistent member to the day of her death.
She was a friend to everyone, a wonderful mother and neighbor. She was bright and active up to about a year or so before passing away and took great interest in her home and friends. It can be truly said of her that her children can rise up and call her blessed.
