Originally buried at Hope Farm, at Hope Landing on Aquia Creek, 15 miles from Fredericksburg. Was 1 of 23 men of the 107th NY Infantry to die of disease at Hope Landing in early 1863 following their participation in the infamous "Mud March." After the war (date unknown) the men were reinterred at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. In 1990 a sandstone monument inscribed with the names of all 23 men was moved from Hope Farm and placed on display at the Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania National Military Park HQ at Chatham Manor.
