Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Jun 8 1936:
Mrs. Barbara Isabel Allen, 42, 1441 Buffalo Street, died at home at 2 am Sunday following an illness of six months. For several weeks it was apparent there was little hope for her recovery, but she valiantly and uncomplainingly bore her suffering. She was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Burrows, born in Mercer County Jan. 31, 1894.
Most of her life was spent in Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1913, and attended Drew Seminary at Carmel, NY. Possessed of great personal charm, she enjoyed a wide friendship, and was known for her genial and optimistic nature. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church.
She married Fred L, Allen, and he survives, with a sister, Mrs. H. E. Ross of New York City, who came several weeks ago to help care for her sister, and was herself taken ill.
Services will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at her home, with Rev. Dr. A. C. Locke officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
