CLARKSON C. BURR
Clarkson E. Burr, lifelong resident of Lucas county, died at his home in Warren township on Wednesday, May 17, 1939, following a heart attack, at the age of 78 years and 19 days.
Largely attended funeral services, conducted by Rev. Paul H. Hicks, of the Methodist church, were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
Clarkson C. Burr, son of Milton J. and Alcinda Burr, was born April 28, 1861, in Warren township, Lucas county, Iowa, on the farm where his entire life was spent.
He was united in marriage to Mary E. Bond on April 26, 1887, and they went to housekeeping in the house where he was born.
He united with the Methodist church in boyhood. He was secretary of the Lucas County Mutual Insurance Company for a number of years, and was also observer and reporter for the United States Department of Agriculture Weather Bureau for thirty-six years.
Mr. Burr was well known throughout the county. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, a good neighbor, always courteous and obliging, and a splendid citizen in every sense of the word. Clark Burr will be greatly missed in the home and in the community.
Surviving him are his wife and one son, Deyo. His parents and two sisters, Mrs. H. G. Curtis and Mrs. Josephine S. B. Reed, preceded him in death.
