SEWAREN - Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Burns, 58, former Sewaren resident who died Tuesday at her home in Sanbornville, N.H. will be held tomorrow at 2 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, Perth Amboy.
Born Anna Peck in Perth Amboy, Mrs. Burns was graduated from Perth Amboy High School with the class of 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Burns moved to Woodbridge soon after their marriage and then to Sewaren.
Active in many social and civic activities, Mrs. Burns was a former president of the Sewaren History Club, served a one-year term as president of the Sewaren library board and was very active in the Republican Club. She was also a Girl Scout Mother and during the war years did much work for the Red Cross and USO. A member of St. John's Guild, Mrs. Burns was also active with the Sewaren Home and School Circle. She was the Seware correspondent for this paper for many years.
In 1948 the Burns moved to New Hampshire and enjoyed running a general store in the town of Milton. After Mr. Burns became ill, they moved to a lovely old farm house in nearby Sanbornville on a hill-top which over-looked Lovell Lake. Mr. Burns died in 1951.
Mrs. Burns is survived by twin daughters and two sons, Leitner and Mrs. Chester Filarowitz, Perth Amboy; Sgt. William Burns, Etna, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Schwenzer, Woodbridge and Mrs. Benjamin Straight, Denville; and a brother, Harold Peck, Cumberland, Md.
Burial will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
