Previously reported missing in the English Channel in action, Pvt. Harold W. Burns of Cooter, Mo., was killed in action April 28, 1944, the War Department has notified his wife, the former Miss Alene Wagster.

Beside his wife, he is survived by a 16-month-old daughter, Carole Ann; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buck Burns; a sister, Mrs. Ashlin Williamson, all of Cooter and a brother, Pfc. Thomas S. Burns, stationed in India.

His wife now is a student at Southeast Missouri Teachers College, Cape Girardeau.
