Major Stanley Burns, 85, died December 21, 1988 at Cooter, Mo.
Son of the late Charles Newton and Mattie Burns, he was born March 20, 1903 at Morrow, Ark.
A member of the Tyler Baptist Church, he was a retired farmer.
On May 18, 1930 he was married to Lydia Mae Bettis at Pearson, Ark.
He leaves his wife, Lydia Mae Burns, of Cooter; one son, Charles J. Burns, of Hope, Ark.; three daughters: Marguerite Haggerty of Chicago, Maxine King of Hope and Edna Fae Garcia of Chicago; a brother, Daniel Burns of Siikeston, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death.
Rev. Matt Corkran conducted funeral services Saturday, December 24, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. at German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele, Mo. Burial was at Number Eight Cemetery at Cooter, with arrangements by German-Aumon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Howard Burns, Charles Barger, Clarence Poteet, Gerald Ganus, Sam Smith, Darrell Edwards, Marvin Childers, Bill Renfro, and Anthony Daniel.
