Birth: 1850, USA
Death: Jun. 13, 1927
Saint Louis
St. Louis County
Missouri, USA

Joint funeral services for Elisha L. Burns of St. Louis and his wife, Mrs. Abbie Burns, were held last Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Methodist church in this city, the Rev. C.G. Thogmorton, local pastor, conducting the rites, in the presence of a few friends and relatives of the deceased pair. The bodies were interred in Maple cemetery shortly after the holding of these services.
Mr. and Mrs. Burns lived in Poplar Bluff for several years, moving to St. Louis about four years ago, and were quite aged at the time of their death--about 78 and 77 years, respectively. Their deaths occurred very close together, on June 10 and 13, respectively, that of Mrs. Burns being largely due to grief and shock on the loss of her life companion.
They were the parents of H.L. Burns, a resident of this city for many years, now living in St. Louis, who came here last Thursday to attend the funeral, returning home Sunday.

....This aged couple passed away within a short time of each other, Mr. Burns on Friday of last week and his wife the following Tuesday, the former's death being due to an accident, followed by contracted pneumonia, when he slipped and fell on the bathroom floor, fracturing his hip. His wife, none too strong anyhow, could not survive the shock of his death, so the aged pair will be buried here at a double funeral.....
