Widow of Charles Burks Came to Oklahoma In 1890.
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Burks, widow of the late Col. Charles Burks of Edmond, will be held from the First Christian church at Edmond at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev. McGeche, pastor, will conduct the services.
Her death came Thursday morning after an illness of two weeks. She was 82 years old. Col. Burks died at his home in Edmond in September, 1922. Mr. & Mrs. Burks came to Oklahoma county in 1890 and both were widely known.
She was at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.A. Adams of Goltry, when death claimed her. She is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. C.R. Hartman of Tulsa, Mrs. J.L. Copeland of Leeper, Mo., Miss Carrie Burks of Lewiston, Idaho, and Mrs. Anna Burks Love of Oklahoma City, and two sons, J.S. Burks of Arcadia, Okla., and Charles Burks of Pineville, Mo.
