Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ann Best, 86, died Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born January 3, 1910 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Pope and Sarah Frances Satterly Burkhead. She was the widow of Elmer Leon Best. She had been employed at Cricketeer Manufacturing and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday School at the Cornishville Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Janet) Harmon, Danville, Mrs. Harry (Patsy) Harmon, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, one step great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Leon Best; five brothers, Ray Burkhead, Omar Burkhead, Dr. Naaman Burkhead, John Burkhead and James Burkhead, and two sisters, Della Burkhead Jenkins and Nellie Burkhead Coulter. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 30, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in the Willisburg Cemetery.
