Thank you Bonita for the beautiful photo...
Carol Irene (Gardner) BURKE Born September 9, 1936; passed away suddenly December 15, 2004. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Joe Burke; her sons, Mike and Bob; her grandchildren, Ryan, Carolyn and Kyle Burke; a brother, Paul Gardner, and his wife, Mary; a sister, Eleanor Stromberg, and her husband, Jerry; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law and their respective families. Carol was a Catholic and maintained her religion throughout her life. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School, met her husband-to-be, Joe, at Seattle University, and married Joe in 1959. Joe and Carol had a beautiful and loving marriage which, with the birth of her two sons, Mike and Bob, she became the COO of the Burke family home as a stay-at-home mother.
Her sons and grandchildren were Carol's delight of life. Carol's pride in her two sons and their families were often mentioned at family gatherings and at other opportunities when presented. Carol had retired as an apartment site manager a few years back and since that time had concentrated her time on her numerous crafts that she loved to do, especially when making things for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of others. Carol was her husband, Joe's, best friend, confidant, and beacon of light illuminating the path for Joe, her children and grandchildren as only Carol could do. Carol was a great loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed by all who came in contact with her over the years.
She will be missed deeply by all, and we know she will still be shining her beacon of light on her family and friends only along with a multitude of angels surrounding her. This in not "good-by", but "so long for now" to a great lady, Carol Burke.
A celebration of Carol's life was held at Mass at St. Brendan's Church in Bothell followed by burial at Holyrood Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Hope Heart Institute, 556 18th Ave., Seattle, WA 98122; Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight and Hearing, 901 Boren Ave., #810, Seattle, WA 98104-3534; or Medic One Foundation, 325 9th Ave., Seattle, WA 98104.
