Ben G. Burke, 1939-2002

Ben died Saturday September 14 from a fall from the roof of his barn. He was an Engineer and worked for Chevron Research for 30 years and had been retired for 10 years. He loved playing his clarinet with the Contra Costa Wind symphony and attended practices every Wednesday night. He also loved playing golf and played with his Chevron 'golfing buddies' every week. He loved planning projects around his horse ranch, which he lovingly cared for so that his wife could enjoy her horses. He rode his tractor and she rode her horse.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years Lowell, his sisters and their husbands Jean & John Slonecker of Ukiah, Calif., Janice Marchbanks and David Morse of Bellingham, Washington. His sisters and brother-in-laws Alice & Sid Munger of Yorba Linda, Calif and Adrienne & Dick Hoover of Sun City, Arizona. He also had 8 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews.

A service wes held Saturday September 28 at 2 PM at the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church at 55 Eckley Lane in Walnut Creek. Gifts can be sent to Calltech Associate mail code 105-40 Pasadena, Calif. 91125.
