Birth: Apr. 27, 1917
Death: Aug. 17, 2008

The Augusta Chronicle, 19 Aug 2008
HARLEM, GA. - Mary Elizabeth Burch (Lib), born in 1971 to lumberman Alvin Burch and his wife Esther, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon August 17, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents; her faithful husband, retired naval officer Homer Ansley; her brothers W.L., Fred and James Burch; her sisters Elma Owens, Elsie Brumbeloe and Jeannie Wallave. She is survived by her brother Alvin Burch Jr. of Riverdale and her sister Emma Meyers of Statesville, NC. She is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Rosalie Ansley of Lithonia and Tom and Debbie Ansley of Augusta; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews. Lib grew up through the great depression and learned the value of not worrying so much about what she didn't have but to be grateful for what she did have. She married Homer Ansley in 1947 and moved to Harlem, Ga. She was a member of the Harlem Baptist Church for over 50 years and attended faithfully until her declining health. In her earlier years she was a pharmacy assistant at the Wilhenford Children's hospital in Augusta. Later she juggled her time between helping Homer on the farm and being a medical receptionist for Doctor Beddinfield in Harlem. She went on to work for Mr. Spec Brown at the Columbia Cleaners in Harlem until she had to leave work when Homer became sick. She cared for him for over three years until his death in 1971. She returned to work at Columbia Cleaners while she attended LPN nursing school. She was at the top of her class when she had to leave school and help her brother and sister take care of her ailing parents. She eventually took over the cleaning business when Mr. Spec retired. Lib was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; as explained in Proverbs, she was the virtuous wife and crowning jewel to her husband. She was a loving and caring mother and generous grandma; she was the definition of a good neighbor and she will be missed tremendously until we meet again. Pallbearers will be Joey Burch, David Wallace, Donald Meyers, David Ansley, Drew Ansley, Wade Ansley, Bryce Ansley and Parker Ansley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Darrell Wells, Seth Mason, Freddie Burch, Larry Burch, Leon Burch, Aubrey Wallace, Phil Wallace, Roger Meyers, and Robert Meyers. If so desired, memorials may be made to Harlem Baptist Church Generations Capital Campaign. PO Box 790, Harlem, GA 30814. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 20, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Harlem Baptist Church with the Reverend Philip Vestal officiating. Interment will be in the Silver Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM at Starling Funeral Home, Hwy 78, Harlem, GA.
