Evelyn V. Baxter Bunch, 74, of Decatur, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2011, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville.
A native of McMinn County and a longtime resident of Meigs County, she was a daughter of the late Dolph and Martha Hampton Baxter, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Hershell Edward Hembree; second husband, Clifford "Shorty" Bunch; one brother, Junior Baxter; and one grandson, William Davis. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include four daughters and one son-in-law, Beatrice Fisher of Decatur, Helen Raper of Englewood, Viola Kathleen "Kathy" Bates of Athens, and Teresa Maxine Martin and her husband, Jim, of Riceville; one son and daughter-in-law, William Raink Hembree and his wife, Debbie, of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Thelma Robinson and her husband, Daniel, of Athens; and five brothers and six sisters-in-law, Billy Baxter and his wife, Louise, of Athens, Eddie Baxter and his wife, Nellie, Leroy Baxter and his wife, Freida, and Kenneth Baxter and his wife, Wanda, all of Englewood, Don Baxter and his wife, Kathy, of Monteagle, and Ruth Baxter of Statesville, N.C.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Songer officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Hampton Cemetery in Englewood.
Pallbearers will be David L. Bates, Terry D. Bates, Billy Wayne Fisher, Thomas Call, Alan North and Matthew Swilling.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
