Valitha Buhr, of Waterloo, formerly of Alpha, Iowa, died Friday, September 14, at Rosewood Estates of natural causes.

She was born November 18, 1920 in Bremer County, Iowa, daughter of Otto and Ida (Propp) Leisinger. She married Richard Buhr on November 26, 1942. He died in 1987.

She graduated from the 8th grade in a Bremer County country school. She then became a hired hand for various farmers. She was very proud to receive her GED much later in life.

Survivors include: a daughter, Kathryn K. Trier of Lakeville, Minnesota; two sons, Lyle (Kathryn) and David (Karen), both of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Katie (Colin) McWey, Traci (Tony) McNally, Brian (Lesa) Buhr, Aimee Buhr, Sara (Jared) Mark and David Buhr; seven great grandchildren, Julia McWey, Alexander and Abraham McNally, Abbie Buhr, Mikaela Buhr, Eathan and Chloe Mark. Also survived by sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and dear friends in Alpha, Iowa.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a sister, Lucinda Oberheu; and two brothers, Loren and William.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran church with burial in Garden Of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and at the chuch for an hour before services on Wednesday.
