Merlin E. Buckmaster (Buck) born February 3rd, 1939 in Adaza, Iowa. He was the youngest of identical twins. Parents were James Harold Buckmaster and Cecile Mc Clellan. He had 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by is wife, Barbara of 47 years, son Karl F. Easley, Sister M Delores Gadberry and brother Roy Buckmaster. He went to school at Guthrie Center High School and was on the track, basketball and football team. They were the state champion football team. He traveled around after high school to New York and worked as a chef at Cornell University. He also did construction welding work before joining the Navy in 1961. Served on the tanker headed for Cuba during the Kennedy Cuban Missile Crises. Then he was transferred to the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany and went to Viet Nam. Buck and I met in March 1964 when Marvin and Buck dropped my uncle Dwight off at my folk's house. Buck saw my picture on the T.V. and wanted to meet that girl. We were married July 30, 1964, in Torrance, California and drove straight thru to Bremerton to get back aboard ship. He served in the Navy until 1965. We arrived in Denver August 15, 1965. He worked as an auto mechanic while going to school evenings to learn refrigeration. He worked for Benson's Appliance for 8 years and 26 years for General Electric as an appliance technician. He loved playing his guitar and singing country music. There was no other music but COUNTRY. He played in a group called Wisdom Gone Wild for several years at Senior Assistant living and nursing homes.

Visitation Wednesday, July 4th, 1:00pm-3:00pm and Funeral Service Thursday, July 5th, 12:00pm both at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 29th & Wadsworth. Interment and Navy Honors to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 1:30pm, Area "B".
