A native of Detroit, he had lived in Welaka for the past 19 years, coming from Lavonia, Mich. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and had worked for 30 years as a mechanical engineer for Jervis B. Webb Co. in Farmington Hills, Mich., retiring in 1972. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Fruitland and member of Live Oak Golf Club in Fruitland.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel F. "Mike" Buckley of Welaka; daughter, Siusan Weaver of Welaka; two sons, Paul Buckley of Westland, Mich., and Dean Buckley of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with the Rev. Leon Hurley, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church, officiating. Bert Hodge Post 45 of the American Legion will bestow military honors. Memorialization will be by cremation. Inurnment will be at the Palatka Memorial Gardens as a later date.
