Marjorie Kellner Berg Buchfinck, 83, of North Platte, passed away February 5, 2011 at Linden Court. She was born on Sept. 6, 1927 in Pierce, NE. to Oscar and Agnes (Winter) Kellner. Marjorie was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She attended Zion Lutheran School through eighth grade and then Pierce High School for three years, graduating from Norfolk High School in 1944. After graduation she was employed by the DeLay First National Bank in Norfolk for six years. On June 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Berg at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The couple moved to Lincoln, NE. where George received his diploma from the University of NE. and Marjorie was employed by the First National Bank of Lincoln. They then moved to North Platte, where she worked at the McDonald State Bank, later known as the United Nebraska Bank for 30 years. She later marred Harry Buchfinck on May 14, 1977 in North Platte. Harry was instrumental in teaching her to play golf as she later became the North Platte Country Club Ladies Champion nine years in a row. She was also an avid bowler, whose team won the State Championship one year. She loved playing cards and rummy cube. Marjorie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Kiwanis Club. She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Charles) Hankins of Stanton, NE., Arlyce (Mrs. Gilbert) Schott, Maralyn (Mrs. Dale) Reznicek all from Norfolk and Frances (Mrs. Kenneth) Hansen of Peoria, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, an older brother, Lloyd Kellner and a younger sister, Ruth Kellner Bruggeman. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at the New Lutheran Cemetery at Norfolk, NE. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements. Marge was fond of wearing hats and because of this the family requests that anyone wishing to honor her by wearing a hat for her service is very welcome to do this.
