MARYSVILLE -- LaVerne S. Bubel, 69, of 3333 Ravenswood Road, died Tuesday, March 13, 1984, in his residence after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Richmond. He was a lifelong Port Huron area resident.

He married Evelyn A. Tallman Oct. 23, 1937, in Smith Creek. She died Jan. 29, 1971. He then married Marion W. "Billie" Stevens June 16, 1972 in Port Huron.

Mr. Bubel owned and operated Sparlingville Used Auto Parts. He is survived by his wife; eight daughters, Mrs. Paul (Clarice) Saunders, St. Clair, Mrs. Onorio (Marylin) Bozza, Camlachie, Ontario, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Simmons and Mrs. Lee (Kay) Webb, both of Avoca, Mrs. Ron (Judy) Alexander, Port Huron, Mrs. Thomas (Gayle) Potter, Brown City, Mrs. Ron (Beth) Kristick, Avoca and Mrs. Syd (Gina) Smith, Anchorville; a son, Sam Hubei Jr., Lake Orion; three sisters, Mrs. William (June) Schoettle, Bellevue, Mrs. Lucille McCallum, Jeddo, and Helen Fishel; three brothers, Roy, Ray and Harlan Bubel, all of Port Huron; a step-son, Ronald MacDonald; four step-daughters, Jackie Ward and Mrs. William (Betty Jo) Balinsk, all of Marysville, and Mrs. Phillip (Beverly) Sullivan and Mrs. Carol Zaremba, both of Port Huron; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Harry, Dean and Lyle Bubel, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Furness, died earlier.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Jowett Funeral Home. The Rev. Clifford Furness, a nephew of Mr. Bubel's and pastor of the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, Fenton, will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Fargo. Visiting is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor.

Pallbearers will be Greg Saunders, Michael Simmons, Jac Vozza, Dave Pieprzak, Charles Slankster and Paul Saunders Jr.
