Elbert "Buster" Bryant, 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, at his home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a volunteer firefighter in Cleveland for more than 30 years. Many knew him from his businesses, including Buster Bryant Coal Company, Buster Bryant Glass Company and Cleveland Ice Company.

He also worked at Bryant Garden Center up until he passed away, where he helped others through his passion for gardening.

He was an usher at North Cleveland Church of God. He was known for being an extremely generous and giving man, which was his love for Christ shining through him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nell Brown Bryant; wife, Princess Clark Bryant; brothers: Billy Bryant and Gene Bryant; and sister, Elizabeth Bryant Chestnut.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Renae Edwards (Ted), Stan Bryant, Steve Bryant, and Tim Bryant (Sherry); grandchildren: Bryant Edwards (Dawnlynn), Rebecca Tennant (Brent), Thomas Edwards (Jodi), Tailer Bryant, Clark Bryant (Jenny), and Chelsea Bryant; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings: Dorothy Nell Chase (Burke), Jimmy Bryant (Norma), and Ernestene Whittaker (Jim); sister-in-law, Betty Jo Bryant; special friend, Bobbie Ragsdale, and her family; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel, 335 11th St. N.E.

The funeral will follow the visitation, starting at 2 p.m., with Pastors Mitch Maloney and Mark Williams officiating the service.

After the service, he will be laid to rest in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

Donations may be made to North Cleveland Church of God, for the benefit of the Bryant Fellowship Hall, in Buster's memory.

The family expressed appreciation to Hospice of Chattanooga for its extraordinary care and compassion, as well as the many friends and family who came to visit him during his illness.
