Dorothy Dillard Allen Bryant, 88, of Raleigh died Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Transitions LifeCare.

Dot was born in Wake County on November 15, 1926 , to the late Otho Hickman Dillard and Lida Tant Dillard. She attended Wiley School, Hugh Morson, and Broughton High School. Dot retired from Sears after 30 years of service, working first at Cameron Village and then at Crabtree as the Customer Service Manager.

She loved music, to dance, and write poetry. Some of her poems were published in the N&O. She was a founding member of Haven Free Will Baptist Church, in the Swift Creek Community of Wake County.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Jesse Willard Allen, and second husband, Cecil Wilbert Bryant; and two brothers, Johnny Dillard and O.H. Dillard, Jr.

She is survived by her three children, daughter, Donna A. Harris and husband William of Apex; son, Jesse W. Allen, Jr. of Raleigh; daughter, Carol A. Upchurch and husband Steve of Garner; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews and 2 nieces.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 18th at 10:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service.
