Mrs. Emma Beckmann, wife of Clerk of District Court D. O. Beckmann, age 51 years, passed away suddenly about ten o'clock this morning as she slept at her home, 312 South Walnut street. Death resulted from a stroke of apoplexy, a physician who was called, told members of the family. Although suffering from a severe cold, she had been in good health otherwise and her death came as a severe shock to members of the family (Omitted here are several paragraphs describing the circumstances of the discovery of her death)
Mrs. Beckmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bruhn, was born in Hall county on March 11, 1886, and grew to womanhood on a farm in Harrison township. She was married to D. O. Beckmann at Grand Island on Oct. 1, 1906. To them were born two children, Paul and Bernadine.
In addition to her bereaved husband and children, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Augusta Bruhn, two brothers, Chris Bruhn, residing 13 miles west of Grand Island, and Detlef Bruhn, of Cairo, and one sister, Mrs. P. W. Mangelsen, 1309 West Third street, who recently underwent surgical treatment at the St. Francis hospital and has not yet been released to return home. Funeral arrangements had not been completed early this afternoon.
