Margaret F. Brownfield, 100, of Ligonier, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in the Ligonier Gardens. She was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late Watson John and Geraldine Frye Cairns. Margie was a lifelong member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church where she had served faithfully as a deacon and elder. In her earlier years, she has been employed by the former Saddle Shop in Ligonier. She had obtained ranking as a Master Duplicate Bridge player for decades. She had been a volunteer for the Ligonier Valley Meals on Wheels and at Latrobe Hospital in the "Little Shop." In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Basil B. "Bud" Brownfield, who died in 1977; a brother, Robert D. Cairns; a daughter-in-law, Mary D. (Glessner) Brownfield; and a granddaughter, Amy Sue Moskios Brownfield. She is survived by two children, Basil B. "Bud" (fiancee, Sylvia Nelson) Brownfield and Brenda L. (Fred) Haberlen, all of Ligonier; four grandchildren, Laurie and Christopher (Selina) Brownfield, Jennifer (John) Campbell and Jamie (Erika) Haberlen; and six great-grandchildren, Joby Broyles, Courtney Moskios, Sarah, Jack and Laura Campbell and Tyler Brownfield.

A service to celebrate Margie's life will be held at the Covenant Presbyterian Church at a time to be announced. Interment will be in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery. The J. PAUL MCCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. of Ligonier is assisting the family.
