Killed in the Battle of Antietam, Md.
Died on September 18, of wounds received at Antietam, Md. on September 17th, 1862.
Died age 17 years 7 months and 18 days

The son of John B. & Nancy Brownawell, in 1860 he was a cabinet maker living in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Carlisle August 5, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 11 as a private with Co. A, 130th Pennsylvania Infantry, but wounded in action at the battle of Antietam, most likely at Bloody Lane, and died the following day.
