Berna Brown Allred, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at her Provo home at age 82 on Sunday, June 19, from complications of Alzheimers.

She was born in Tooele, Utah on Jan. 11, 1929, to Emma Vilate Lee and Raymond Oldham Brown. Berna leaves behind a loving family that will miss her contagious joy, energy and love for life. She is now reunited with her eternal sweetheart, harmonizing once again.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 yrs, Dr. Dorald M. Allred, of BYU; her parents; a brother, Lee Brown (Sheryl), Florida; a son, Kyle, Provo; and a grandson, Lehi Allred, Alaska. Survivors include sons: Kevin (Carlene), Alaska, Darin (Beth), Oregon, daughters: Anita Rawlinson (David), Montana, and Lori Baumann (Jeff), Santaquin; sisters: Margie Davis (Howard), Provo, Pam Johnson (Russ), Logan, and a brother, Sam Peery (Lavora), Logan. She leaves behind 20 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren.

She graduated with Honors from Brigham Young University and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Pro Libris. Berna had an amazing soprano voice, and performed in the community in solo, opera and musicals, as well as duets with her husband. For many years she sang with the Ralph Woodward Chorale and the Florence Madsen Memorial Choir. She was expert seamstress and loved creating and altering clothing. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving for many years as Ward Music Coordinator, pianist in Relief Society, and as a primary worker. Her legacy of love, service, testimony and faith has influenced all those around her.

The family wishes to thank her wonderful caregivers: Inna and Artur Lishchenko & their family, Galinna, Leah & Danyl; Darrel and Courtney Larson, and Bobbie Davis. We are eternally grateful for your service! The Ward Relief Society also provided care. Thank you to Dr. Robert Taylor and Dr. Matthew Butrum.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Edgemont 3rd Ward Chapel, 350 E. 2950 N., Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, Provo. In her memory, please wear green if possible.
