Agnes was born on November 5, 1928, in St. Joseph, to the late Edward and Gertrude (Gleason) Gartland. She was a lifelong resident and 1948 graduate of Sacred Heart Convent.
Mrs. Brown worked at Peachtree Door for over 20 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society and served on the Sacred Heart Convent Alumni Association.
Agnes was very proud of her Irish Heritage, and will always be remembered with a smile on her face.
She married the love of her life, Edward "Stub" Brown, on February 11, 1950, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2012.
In addition to her parents and husband, Agnes is preceded in death by five siblings.
Surviving family include son, David "Opie" Brown (Kay), St. Joseph; son, Bob Brown (Mary Jane), Centralia, Mo.; daughter, Kathy Matthias (Doug), St. Joseph; daughter, Charlotte Brewka, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Patricia Murray, Seattle, Wash,; grandchildren, Patty, Eddie, Matthew, Vincent, Heather, Jason, Sarah, Garret, Cinnamon, Billy, Davie and Ryan; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Vi Centore, Wesfield, Mass.
Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel, where a Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 7:30 p.m.
