The funeral of Andrew Jackson Brown, said to be the oldest member of the Grand Army of the Republic in America, was held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the home of his son, George Brown, 909 Greeley avenue, Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. Brown, who was born in Milford, Massahusetts, July 2, 1823, died early yesterday at his son's home. Mr. Brown served as a private for four years in the Civil war in Company A 8th Illinois cavalry, marching with Sherman to the sea. Serveral months after being discharged in September, 1864, he came to Kansas and was a charter member of Burnside post, No. 25, G. A. R., in Kansas City, Kansas. The post had charge of his funeral.
