Edward M. Brown, a farmer, was the son of Robert Brown and Cherry McGinnis Brown. He was born in Morgan County, IL and came to Lexington, IL with his parents when he was about 3 years old. He married Laura Janes on August 8, 1861, and they were the parents of nine children. Mr. Brown died on Thanksgiving Day just as the family and a group of friends sat to eat the noonday meal. Mr. Brown fell from his chair and died. Living children at the time of his death were as follows:
