Services for Alta V. Brown, 91, Aledo, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.
Alta died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at the Mercer County Nursing Home.

Alta was born July 2. 1912, in Buffalo Prairie, Ill., to Dow and Della Beeding Ripley. She married Berne B. Brown on June 19, 1938, Aledo. He preceded her death Oct. 21, 1989.
Alta was a dedicated school teacher who taught in Mercer County schools and Aledo third grade. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Aledo and of the Aledo Order of the Eastern Star, where she played the organ for many years. Alta and her husband were members of the Wally Byam International Airstream Club for many years.
Alta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Robin Brown, Cheyenne Wyo.; granddaughters, Nicole Anderson and Christine Bates; great-grandchildren, Xavier Bates, Chason and Cassadie Anderson; and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lowell Lloyd, Illinois City. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
