Community Leader Dies At Home Sunday Afternoon
Mrs. Amy Viola Fackrell Brown 87, of Woods Cross died Sunday at 11 :45 p.m. at her home of pneumonia and heart trouble. She had been ill 12 days.
A daughter of Joseph C., and Clarissa Dempsey Frackrell, she was born January 22, 1855 at Farmington. She was a widow of the late Mahonri M. Brown, to whom she was married on October 17, 1876 in the old Salt Lake endowment house. Mr. Brown died April 20, 1907.
Mrs. Brown has always been a leader in communty affairs, and was active in the campaign for womans' suffrage in Davis coutny, and covered the area with a horse and buggy for the cause.
She was an active memberof the Eutaw camp, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, at South Bountiful for a number of years.
A Relief society teacher for 30 years in her LDS Ward, she also served as a temple worker untl a few yars ago.
For over 15 years she was well known as a practical nurse in Davis county.
Surviving are, one son, Jared Brown of Woods Cross; three daughters, Mrs. Iva Buckland of Blackfoot, Ida; Mrs. Amy V. Brauer of Bountiful, and Mrs. Ruth Irving of Woods Cross; two sisters, Mrs. Clarissa Spouse of Graden City, Utah, and Mrs. Jemima Clawson of Randolph; two brothers, James W. Fackrell of Woods Cross and Henry G. Fackrell of Lovell, Wyo.; 29 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at South Bountiful ward chapel by Bishop Walter Moss. Burial was in Bountiful cemetery.
