Ruth Naoma Alvey, 84, of St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Owensboro, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Osceola Healthcare Center. She was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Russellville to the late John Barker and Mary Belle (Young) Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William "J.W." Alvey on April 4, 1965; and two brothers, William and Jimmy Brown. She is survived by a son, Joe Alvey (Margie) of Kissimmee, Fla.; three daughters, Sherry Taylor (Barry L.) of St. Cloud, Becky Alvey (Donnie) of Owensboro and Paula Kaye Mason of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Buddy Brown of Owensboro; and a sister, Martha Kay Hayes of Jacksonville, Fla. Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
