Obituary from the December 26, 1906 Baltimore American:
"Mrs. Jane Bruce Stewart Brown, aged 78 years, widow of Andrew Brown, who for a number of years represented the Second ward in the City Council, died on Monday evening at her home, 308 South Ann street, after a short illness, due to the infirmities of old age.
Mrs. Brown was born in Hollywood, County Down, Ireland, and when six years of age she was brought to this city by her parents. She was the last charter member of the Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church, which was dissolved several years ago, and she was known throughout East Baltimore for acts of charity. Mrs. Brown is survived by three sons, (Messrs. John H. Brown, Andrew J. Brown, and W. Stewart Brown), three daughters, Mrs. Mary F. Mallory, Mrs. Thomas T. Boswell of Baltimore, and Mrs. Wilson E. Ennis of Lansdowne, Pa.) There are two grandchildren, Mrs. W.E. Westerman and Mr. Edward T. Boswell; two great grandchildren, Mrs. Andrew D. West and Miss Winifred D. Boswell. One sister survives the deceased, Mrs. Richard Barter, of Elmira, New York. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon, and the services will be conducted by Rev. Taliaferro Caskey, rector of Holy Comforter Protestant Episcopal Church. Internment will be in the family lot in Greenmount Cemetery. Funeral director Harry Hughes has charge of the arrangements."
