Mary G. Brown
Mary G. Brown, 94, of Kirksville died at 10:50 Sunday morning (March 19, 1978) in the Adair County Nursing Home, where she had been a patient since May 23, 1973.
Born near Greensburg on November 11, 1883, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Miller Grainger. At Clarence in 1906, she was married to Dr. Thomas C. Brown who preceded her in death in 1918.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George (Amelia) Woelfel of Wallingford, Pa. and two grandchildren, Mrs. John (Mary) Poole and Adam Poole, both of Datchworth, Hertfordshire, England.
Mrs. Brown was reared in the Edina area. Before her marriage, she taught for two years in the Edina schools. From 1919 until 1925 she taught in the Clarence school.
She then attended Northeast Missouri State University and received he BS Degree in 1926. In 1927 she was offered a position in the Greenwood Laboratory School and served as an instructor in practice teaching until her retirement in 1955.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Private graveside services will be held in the Linville cemetery in Edina.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. (March 27, 1978) in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stephen McShane, officiating.
The body is at the Davis Funeral Home where the casket is closed and will remain closed.
