"JOHN BROWN, 2 (John 1), son of John Brown & ISABEL Wier, was b about 1684 at Priesthill,
Ayreshire, Scotland. At an early age he was taken by his mother to Ireland, where he grew to manhood, and where he lived until he attained the age of 35 years. In 1720, he, with his brother JAMES, together with their families and some friends, emigrated to America, and located in the Swatara region near the present site of Middletown, Dauphin Co, PA. Here he took up a large tract of land, upon which he lived until his death in 1740. The name of his wife, whom he married in Ireland, and who survived him a few years, is unknown.
