Johanna Priebe was born in Neudorf, Czarnikau, Posen, Prussia to Johann Christoph Priebe and his wife. She married Christoph Brose on 28 Apr 1833, and they had nine children: Wilhelmine (b 1833), August, b 1835), Julianna (b 1837), Karolina Ernestine (b 1840), Appolonia (b 1841), Henrietta (b 1843), Christoph (b 1847), Albertine (b 1849), and Wilhelm (b 1851). Only Julianna, Albertine, Wilhelm, and possibly Karolina Ernestine survived to adulthood. After the death of their mother, the children accompanied the blended family to the US and settled in Marquette County, WI.
