Anna Lorraine Brooks, affectionately known as Rayne, died June 14 after a courageous 10 month battle with lymphoma.

She is survived by her sister, Elaine LeBaron, niece Vicki Gibbons, nephews Dr. Steven LeBaron, James Brooks, her companion, Roberta Prentice as well as many extended family members who loved and cared about her. Rayne was born August 22, 1932 in her Tempe home.

She was an outstanding softball player, golfer and and avid reader. She earned a B.A. Degree in Education from Arizona State University and taught high school in Flagstaff, Ariz., Yuba City, Calif. and Phoenix Indian School. Rayne also served as a juvenile detention officer in Phoenix, Az., and as a court investigator in Bremerton, Wash. In 1975 she was the assitant athletic director at Oregon State University coaching the women's varsity softball team to their only national playoff. She was instrumental in the development of Sunriver, Oregon. She was loved and respected by her family, friends, and colleagues.

A celebration of Rayne's life will be held in Bremerton, Washington.
