Allie Brooks, 97, of Houston, Minn., passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Caledonia Health Care Center in Caledonia, Minn.
Allie was born March 14, 1915 in Hibbing, Minn., to Charles and Anna (Katajamaki) Peratalo.
Allie grew up and attended school in Buck Lake, Minn. Following her marriage to Edgar J. Brooks on March 21, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Minn., the couple lived at Buck Lake. They ran the Napoleon Lake Resort at Napoleon Lake and also owned and operated the Brooks Taxidermy Shop in Minneapolis for 30 years. The Taxidermy Shop was known worldwide. In 1974 the couple made their home at Buck Lake and then moved to Hibbing in 1992. Allie moved to Houston, Minn., in 2005 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law.
Allie was a member of the Nashwauk Lutheran Church, Maple Hill Senior Citizens, Hibbing Community Senior Citizens, and the Buck Lake Community Club.
Allie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Peratalo; her husband, Edgar Brooks; two brothers, Arvi and Auno Peratalo; and sister, Aili Kondio.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Earl) Kitchen of Houston, Minn.; grandsons, Keith (Debbie) Kitchen of Augusta, Wis., and Kelly (Molly) Kitchen of South St. Paul; three great grandchildren Kevin Kitchen of Augusta , Katie Kitchen of South St. Paul, and Caroline Kitchen of South St. Paul; numerous nieces and nephews.
SERVICE: 1 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Nashwauk Lutheran Church with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jean Megorden will officiate.
