The son of Judge Francis Marion & Clementine (BEAUCHAMP) BROOKS, who have a son Charles E. BROOKS (aged 24 years, born in Georgia) in their 1880 census household in Muscogee County, Georgia.

Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Charley BROOKS died aged 27 years; buried 11 MAY 1883 in Section C, Lot 413 - Abraham ODOM. [Galer's source was the sexton's card file (an index). The original burial record in the sexton's ledger book also mentions this individual was born in Georgia, died of consumption (i.e. tuberculosis), and was buried as a resident of Columbus, Georgia (so evidently died there).]

This grave is probably not identifiably marked. Others reported to be buried in Section C, Lot 413, include - unmarked: Florence BROOKS (buried 30 OCT 1880, aged not reported); and - marked: Francis Marion BROOKS (1818-1889). His marked grave is in Dolores Autry's Section K, Lot 118 - see her "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book, Volume 3.
