James was born to Carl and Frances Zarley Brokaw and spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon Area. He retired form the National Can Company were he worked over 20 years as a printing press operator. Surviving are his sister Jane Metzger of Mount Vernon, three nephews; two nephews; his Aunt Catherine Wells; his former stepchildren, Lorrie, Missy and Brady; 22 cousins.
