She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1936 and Michigan State University in 1940. In 1940, she married James Brody (deceased). Barbara was raised in Michigan and spent her adult life in Illinois and Michigan. In 1998, she moved to California to be near family.
Barbara became a teacher at the age of 47 when necessity required her to assume support of her family. She taught language arts to 4th and 5th graders for 18 years in Westmont, Illinois, but her most favored and rewarding role was that of a good and true wife and mother. She loved nothing more than for her family to be together. Fine Lake, Michigan was the site of many happy memories. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, playing bridge and church activities.
As she aged, Barbara showed great courage in facing the loss of her vision from macular degeneration and other health events. She maintained a positive attitude and always tried her best. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was always there for us and we will miss her.
