Alice Brobst, 81, a seven-year resident of 431 N. 10th St., Lewisburg, died at 7:55 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she had lived since January. She formerly lived in Rockville, Md., and Mifflinburg.
Born Aug. 5, 1921, in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late Ottis Adam and Edna Elizabeth Singley Fisher.
On Jan. 17, 1942, she was married to Lee R. Brobst in Nescopeck.
A 1937 graduate of the former Beaver Township High School, Mrs. Brobst operated looms at a silk mill in her earlier years that produced material for parachutes for the military. She later worked as a seamstress and in a department store in Towson, Md.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Mrs. Brobst was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mifflinburg Lodge No. 152; White Shrine, Bloomsburg; and Amaranth, Milton.
She enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her family. Mrs. Brobst also upholstered furniture and crafted ceramics and porcelain. She enjoyed story-telling and playing cards.
Seven siblings died previously: Ralph Fisher, Edna Houser, Ruth Schell, Mildred Kowalsky, Myrtle Bredbenner Fenstermacher, Martha Hofnagle Boone and Sarah Brobst.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, J. Daniel Brobst, Mifflinburg R.R.1; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Levi Peter Fisher, Bloomsburg; and Ottis Junior Fisher, Zion Grove.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., East Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg, with the Revs. Edward Henry and George Henry, of United Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Zion Grove.
