The 1880 Census for New Canaan recorded 29 June, listed Arthur (22) worked on a farm, probably his father's, wife Carrie (22) and son Arthur Clarence (1). They must have married early in 1878 for son to be one year by June 1880. Samuel and Carrie had at least four sons of record.

Arthur (47) married second wife, Isodora Bray Pattendon (38) on 25 November 1905 in Brooklyn. Isodora was the daughter of George M. Pattendon and Abigail Weed.
