He was born May 5, 1919 in Lynchburg, SC to the late Robert Pinkney Brittain and Laura Wyant Brittain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Brittain and Carl Brittain; a sister, Lottie Brittain Rhoney; and a cousin, Byrd Brittain.
Mr. Brittain was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and was a World War II veteran. He served in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 48, a lifetime member of the VFW, and took the 2011 Flight of Honor to Washington, DC. He was a farmer and retired from Drexel Heritage. He was a member of the Cooksville Masonic Lodge and an avid NASCAR fan. Boyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Vale with Pastor Tony Sayer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
