Mrs. O. N. BRISCOE Died at Home Here; Son-in-law Killed at Hedley Thursday, Double Funeral Here
Mrs. O. N. BRISCOE, age 62, died at her home on Belcher St., Friday morning, following an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Briscoe's death occurred about 18 hours following the death of her son-in-law, J. M. GREEN, at Hedley, Texas. Mrs. Green was here at the bedside of her mother when the news of her husband's death reached her. A joint funeral will be held Saturday morning at the Briscoe home on Belcher St. with Rev. THOMAS LENNOX of the Dixon St. Christian Church, and Rev. E. V. COLE of the Denton St. Methodist Church officiating, with interment in Fairview cemetery directed by G. J. Carroll. Mrs. Briscoe had resided here many years. She was a member of the Southern Presbyterian Church since her marriage in 1882. Her husband, a Confederate veteran, preceded her in death some 19 years ago. She is survived by the following children: BESSIE, WILMER, EVA, LUTIE, LILLIAN and JOE BRISCOE, and Mrs. J. M. GREEN and six grandchildren.
Mr. Green, superintendent of the Dishman Gin co., was killed just before noon Thursday in a gin accident, his head crushed in the gin machinery. He was a gin machinery expert and formerly lived in Dallas and Gainesville. He was born at Wills Point, Texas, Feb. 7, 1881 and since age 19, a member of the Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, prominent in circles. The local Masonic lodge and the Tannehill lodge of Dallas will have charge of services for Mr. Green. Mr. Green is survived by his wife and five sons, JIM, GROVER, WILMER, DAVID and EDWARD; three sisters, Mrs. W. R. HOWELL of Wills Point, Mrs. ELIZABETH LANE of Fort Worth, and Mrs. J. B. POINDEXTER of Alvarado; two brothers, GUY B. GREEN of Dallas and GROVER GREEN of Fort Worth.
