Doyle P. Brink, 81, retired paint contractor, musician

Doyle P. Brink, a retired paint contractor who played in a country and western band for more than 50 years, died Sunday at his home in Waco. He was 81.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Connally-Compton Downtown Funeral Home Chapel, Frank Barnes officiating.

Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.

Mr. Brink was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Chilton and had lived most of his life in Waco. He was veteran of World War II and for more than 50 years had a county and western band called "Doyle Brink and his Texas Swingsters."

He was a member of the Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, N.C.

He attended New Hope Baptist Church in Riesel.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbye Brink of Waco, three daughters, Rachel Spoon of Ardmore, Okla., Margo Ballas of Dallas and Virginia Spencer of Houston; five sons, Arnold Brink of Albuquerque, N.M., Wesley Brink of Humble, the Rev. Gil Brink of Fresno, Calif., and Mike Brink and Andy Brink, both of Irving; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Winter of Bosqueville and Donna Hollingsworth of Robinson; four sisters, Jennie Knight of Speegleville, Amy Lassiter of Waco, Ethel Lassiter of Mineola and Nellie Wood of Arlington; a brother, A. A. Brink of Nacogdoches; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and six step grandchildren.
